The Wooden RFID Card Range

Wood is the part your guests feel; the chip is the part that does the work. Every card in this range pairs the two — a real 13.56 MHz RFID inlay sealed inside a natural wood body — across hotel key cards, NFC business cards, access cards and custom-shaped wood tags.

Which chip you need depends on the job. For a room key or an NFC tap that opens a link, NTAG215 and NTAG213 are the usual pick; for door locks, membership and access control, Fudan F08 and Mifare Classic 1K speak the language your readers already use. From there it comes down to look and feel: beech, black walnut or bamboo, in the standard 85.5 × 54 mm card size or die-cut into rounded, teardrop or one-off shapes.

Whether you're branding room keys for a hotel, building a loyalty program or handing out contactless business cards, the smart first step is the same — order a free sample, test the read range and print on your own reader, then scale up once you know it fits.

Natural Wood That Guests Notice — and Chips That Just Work

A wooden RFID card does two jobs at once. It carries the same contactless performance as a plastic card, and it changes how the card feels in a guest's hand — warmer, quieter, unmistakably premium. For a hotel or a brand, that first tap is part of the experience, not just a door opening.

The eco story is real, and increasingly a purchasing requirement. Natural wood and fast-renewing bamboo replace petroleum-based PVC, FSC-certified sourcing is available for sustainability reporting, and the material reads as a deliberate green choice rather than a compromise. None of that costs you reliability: the RFID chip is sealed inside the card body, so read range and durability match a conventional card while the surface stays wood.

Every card is configurable — chip, wood species, size, shape, print and finish — which is why the same product line serves a boutique resort, a corporate access program and an NFC business card launch without changing suppliers.

Where Wooden RFID Cards Are Used

Where Wooden RFID Cards Are Used

The hospitality market is driving demand right now, but the same wooden RFID card platform solves several sourcing problems. Here is how buyers deploy each configuration.

Hotels & resorts

Wooden hotel key cards give a property a signature touch at check-in while running on the same 13.56 MHz credentials the room locks already read. SYNTEK has produced branded wood cards for names guests recognize across the hospitality sector, and the surface can carry the room-entry instructions, a seasonal artwork or a logo engraving. One card can also open the elevator, spa, pool and lounge, so the guest carries a single wooden key card across the whole stay.

Contactless business cards

A wooden NFC business card holds a vCard, a portfolio link or a booking page on an NTAG chip — one tap moves your details to any phone. It is a memorable leave-behind for executives, brand launches and trade shows, and it never goes out of date because you update the linked page, not the card.

Access control & offices

Employee and access cards on Mifare Classic 1K or Fudan F08 integrate with existing controllers for doors, turnstiles and secure areas.

Membership, VIP & loyalty

Club, spa and loyalty programs use serial-numbered wooden cards; thermal-printed numbers and a signature panel make each card unique.

Events, gifts & invitations

Wooden invitation cards, gift cards and event tags — round or teardrop shapes with a logo — turn a credential into a keepsake.

Chip Options and Hotel Lock Compatibility

The single question that decides an order is: will these cards open our locks? SYNTEK builds every wooden RFID card on the 13.56 MHz HF band, which is the frequency mainstream electronic hotel locks and access controllers read. What actually sets compatibility is the chip, so match it to your system before you commit.

NTAG216 gives 888 bytes of user memory for larger data storage, room keys, or complex NFC business cards. NTAG215 gives 504 bytes of user memory for a room-key credential or an NFC tap that opens a URL, vCard or check-in link. NTAG213 is the leaner NFC choice for shorter records and wooden business cards. Fudan F08 and Mifare Classic 1K use 1 KB of sector-based memory — the format most door locks and legacy panels are provisioned for.

Lock platforms such as Assa Abloy / VingCard, dormakaba / Saflok, Salto, Onity and MIWA read 13.56 MHz Mifare or NTAG credentials. Send us your lock model or a working sample card and we encode to match it — and confirm on a free sample first. UHF and LF chip variants are available for non-hospitality access projects on request.

Wood, Shape and the Finish That Sells the Card

Two cards with the same chip can look completely different. Customization is where a wooden RFID card earns its price, so it is worth choosing deliberately rather than defaulting.

Wood species & shape

Beech has a pale, fine, even grain that prints cleanly and photographs well. Black walnut is darker and richer for luxury and boutique properties. Bamboo is the fast-renewing, FSC-available option for sustainability-led briefs. Standard bodies are CR80 85.5 × 54 mm at about 1.3 mm, and cards can be die-cut into custom outlines, rounded corners, or round and teardrop tags — with or without an embedded RFID chip, and always with your logo.

Wood Species & Shape

Printing & finishing methods

Match the method to the effect you want, not the other way around:

01/

Laser engraving

Burns the design into the grain — permanent, tactile, single-tone. Best for logos, line art and letting the wood show through.

02/

Full-color UV printing

Photographic artwork and exact brand colors printed onto the wood, for illustrated hotel cards and vivid designs.

03/

Gold / silver hot-stamping

Metallic foil accents for a high-end, reflective logo or border on premium cards.

04/

Spot UV & embossing

Raised or glossed highlights that add texture you can feel against the matte wood.

05/

Thermal serial numbers

Unique printed numbers per card for access, membership and loyalty tracking.

06/

Panels & magnetic stripe

Scratch-off, signature and barcode panels, plus LoCo/HiCo magnetic stripe for hybrid mag-and-RFID cards.

Waterproof Finish for Everyday Guest Handling

Wood and water are an obvious worry, and it is the right question to ask before ordering. SYNTEK offers an optional waterproof finish craft: a sealed surface treatment so brief water and humidity contact beads off the card instead of soaking into the grain. In the comparison test, the coated card (①) keeps droplets sitting on top, while an untreated card (②) absorbs them quickly.

That difference matters for pool decks, spas, beach clubs and humid climates, where cards get wet hands and damp counters all day. The RFID chip is laminated inside the body regardless of finish, so it stays protected; the waterproof craft is about keeping the wood surface and print looking new through a full guest cycle. As with any wooden card, avoid prolonged soaking and hard bending.

A Factory, Not a Middleman

A thin website should not mean thin capability. Here is what stands behind the wooden RFID cards on this page — and the answers to what sourcing managers ask first.

  • Direct-factory pricing. You order from the production line, not a reseller, so there is no markup layer between your quote and the wood.

  • Scale without the queue. Output runs to roughly 20 million cards a month, so bulk and repeat orders keep short lead times.

  • 15 years and 1,800 m² of wood sourcing. Long production experience and a stocked material base keep grain, color and dimensions consistent across batches.

  • One-stop customization. Chip encoding, wood, shape, print and finish are handled in-house — one supplier, one point of accountability.

  • Low-risk trial. Free samples and free design, with MOQ from 100pcs, let you validate before spending on a run.

OEM & ODM, Handled End To End

OEM & ODM, handled end to end

  • Samples first. Test chip read range, wood grain and print on a free sample — including custom shapes — before you order.

  • Your files, your brand. Send a logo or artwork; laser, UV and die-cutting are set up from it. Cards ship printed, engraved or blank under your label only.

  • Straight answers on MOQ and lead time. MOQ starts from 100pcs to prototype; production quantity, unit price and timeline are quoted against your run. Reorders move faster since your artwork and encoding stay on file.

Wooden RFID Card FAQ

Q: Will wooden RFID cards work with our existing hotel door locks?

A: In most cases, yes. Modern electronic hotel locks read 13.56 MHz Mifare or NTAG credentials, and SYNTEK wooden RFID cards run on that band with Mifare Classic 1K, Fudan F08, NTAG213, NTAG215 or NTAG216 chips. Compatibility is decided by the chip, so send your lock model or a working sample card and we match it — then confirm on a free sample before any bulk order.

Q: What chips, frequencies and memory options are available?

A: The standard range is 13.56 MHz HF: NTAG216 (888-byte memory), NTAG215 (504-byte memory), NTAG213, Fudan F08 and Mifare Classic 1K (1 KB). NTAG chips suit NFC business cards and tap-to-open uses; F08 and Mifare 1K suit door locks and access controllers. UHF and LF chips can be supplied for non-hotel projects on request.

Q: What is the MOQ, and can I get a sample first?

A: Our MOQ starts from 100pcs, and free samples — including custom print and shape — are available so you can test chip performance and print quality on your own reader. Production MOQ and per-unit pricing are quoted against your run size, and larger volumes lower the unit cost.

Q: Are the cards durable and waterproof enough for daily guest use?

A: The RFID chip is laminated inside the wood body, and an optional waterproof finish seals the surface so brief water and humidity contact beads off rather than soaking in — useful for pool, spa and beach-club properties. Wood is naturally rigid; avoid prolonged soaking and hard bending, as with any wooden card.

Q: Which wood species and print methods should we choose?

A: Beech prints cleanly and photographs well; black walnut reads as premium and dark; bamboo is the sustainable, FSC-available choice. For decoration, laser engraving suits logos and line art, full-color UV printing suits photographic artwork, and hot-stamping, spot UV, embossing, thermal serial numbers, scratch-off or signature panels, and magnetic stripe are all available. Tell us the effect you want and we recommend the method.

Q: Can you do OEM / ODM, custom shapes and private label?

A: Yes. As a direct factory, SYNTEK sets up laser, UV print and die-cutting from your artwork, produces custom outlines including round and teardrop tags, and ships cards printed, engraved or blank under your brand only. There is no reseller layer between your order and production.

Q: How do we order, and what is the lead time?

A: The flow is sample, then artwork approval, then production. Send your lock or chip requirement, wood choice, print method and quantity through the inquiry form, and SYNTEK confirms specification, price and timeline. Repeat orders are faster because your OEM & ODM, handled end to end files and encoding are already on record.
