Q1: What kind of material is Tyvek®?

A: Tyvek® is a non-woven fabric made of 100% high-density polyethylene by spinning and spunbonding through a unique flash process. There are two structures: hard structure material like paper (type 10) and cloth-like Soft structural material (Type 14). Tyvek® is a naturally white material with a whiteness of ~94.1.

Q2: Does Tyvek® have a front and back? What's the difference?

A: Tyvek® material has two sides, usually the smoother side is called the front side (the two sides can be identified by comparison), and the physical properties (such as water resistance, strength, etc.) of the two sides are basically the same. Type 10 material can be printed on both sides, and type 14 material is recommended to be printed on the smooth side.

Q3: Why does Tyvek® material have uneven thickness and delamination after kneading?

A: Tyvek® material is produced by a unique flash method process to produce continuous fibers randomly distributed and then heat-pressed. It is a non-woven material. The thickness index cannot be controlled like traditional paper technology, but it is basically controlled Weight is one of the physical indicators of control. In addition, the material is a multi-layer non-woven fabric, which may appear delaminated after rubbing.

Q4: How is the waterproof performance of Tyvek® material?

A: Tyvek® has certain waterproof performance but not absolute waterproof performance. Generally, the hydrostatic pressure index is used to express the waterproof performance of Tyvek® material. Customers are advised to evaluate by themselves according to the application requirements.

Q5: What is the breathability of Tyvek® material?

A: Tyvek® has a certain degree of air permeability, but its air permeability is still different from traditional fabrics. It is recommended to evaluate it by yourself according to the application.

Q6: How is the dimensional stability of Tyvek® material?

A: Tyvek® can maintain dimensional stability between minus 73 degrees and 100 degrees. Under tension (such as web printing or coating lamination), in order to ensure that the material does not deform, the oven temperature needs to be controlled below 79 degrees Celsius.

Q7: How is the folding resistance of Tyvek® material?

A: Tyvek® has good flexibility and can be folded many times without being damaged. Maps and book lamp applications make good use of this feature. It also does not disappear once creases appear like paper materials.

Q8: How is the abrasion resistance of the surface of Tyvek® material?

A: Tyvek® material is a multi-layer structure non-woven fabric with a very smooth surface. According to the results of the Martindale pilling comparison test, its performance is better than that of general woven materials. Customers are advised to make corresponding evaluations according to application requirements.

Q9: Is Tyvek® material malleable?

A: Tyvek® material has very little ductility.

Q10: How reflective and transparent is Tyvek® material?

A: According to the data reference of our laboratory test, Tyvek® material without any treatment has good reflectivity to visible light, the reflectivity of visible light is generally above 90%, and the transmittance of visible light of Tyvek® material is generally within 10%.

Q11: Is Tyvek® material an environmentally friendly material?

A: Tyvek® material is high-density polyethylene non-woven fabric, which is a 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly material, but it cannot be degraded.

Q12: Can Tyvek® material be printed on? How to improve the color fastness after printing?

A: Tyvek® materials can be printed by paper printing methods such as offset printing, flexo printing, gravure printing, silk screen printing, and some digital printing, etc. For details, please refer to the Tyvek® technical guide; the color fastness mainly depends on the ink itself, and the printing color fastness can be improved To choose from the ink, it is recommended to consult the printer or ink supplier.

Q13: Can Tyvek® material be digitally printed?

A: Yes, HP Indigo, UV inkjet, and Latex inkjet can be printed directly on Tyvek®, but conventional high-temperature laser printers are not suitable. Water-based inkjet and solvent-based inkjet need to be pre-coated accordingly only suitable.
