Bleeding:

Any image that goes beyond the crop line or into the book slot. The bleed must actually exceed the pre-height line to allow for a slight misregistration when trimming or stapling.

 Full bleeding:

(full bleed) The part of the printed image beyond the four sides of the paper. Since few presses can print over the edges of the paper, all four edges must be cut off.

CMYK:

Cyan, magenta, yellow, black---four printing colors. YMCK and KCMY are both synonyms of CMYK. YMCK may be a spelling due to people's habit, and KCMY may be a radio station of Nebrasks. In printing, the order of the letters may also imply the printing order of four-color printing. Therefore, KCMY often indicates that the ink is printed as black, cyan, magenta, and yellow.

Printing:

The process technology of transferring the graphic information on the original to the substrate by using printing plates or other means.

Planographic printing:

A method of printing with lithographic printing.

Offset ink offset lithography:

A printing method in which the graphics and text on the printing plate are first printed on the intermediate carrier (squeegee cylinder) and then transferred to the substrate.

offset printing press:

According to the principle of indirect printing, the printing plate is a lithographic printing machine that transfers the graphics and text on the substrate through the blanket transfer cylinder.

DTP (Desktop Publishing System)

Color desktop publishing system: input images and texts into the computer, use the computer to process and process the images, and draw the graphics, and then combine the graphics, images, and text into a full-page layout, and use a laser imagesetter to print this electronically. The layout output becomes the original copy.

CTP (Computer To Plate) computer direct plate making:

With the further development of printing technology, not only can the original plate be made directly from the original, but also the direct interface between the computer publishing system and the printing machine is realized, which can be completed in one step from the original to the printing.

Indirect printing:

The printing method in which the ink on the graphic part of the printing plate is transferred to the surface of the substrate through the transfer of the intermediate carrier.

Original manuscript

The graphic information on the physical object or carrier on which the plate is made.

Printing plate:

A printed graphic carrier used to transfer ink to the substrate. Usually divided into four categories: letterpress, gravure, lithography and stencil.

Substrate printing stock:

Various substances that can accept ink or absorb colorant and present graphics and text.

Plate making:

According to the process of copying the original into a printing plate.

Make-up:

Combine text, charts, etc. into a version according to the design requirements.

Printing down:

The process of transferring information from a negative or positive negative to a printing plate or other photosensitive material by means of contact exposure.

Proofing:

Copy the proof from the grouped graphic information.

Pre-coated photosensitive lithographic plate presensitized plate:

The lithographic printing plate that is pre-coated with a photosensitive layer and can be printed at any time, referred to as "PS" version.

Post-press finishing:

A production process that obtains the desired shape and usability of printed matter, such as binding.

Perfect printing:

Use two different plates to print both front and back on the same substrate at the same time.

Block copy:

Graphic negatives for printing.
