Two frequently used RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technologies in animal identification and management systems are FDX (Full Duplex) and HDX (Half Duplex). They frequently serve distinct functions and have various operating frequencies and communication protocols.


Full-duplex communication is possible using FDX technology, which enables simultaneous communication in both directions. This permits simultaneous communication between the reader and the tag, potentially resulting in faster and more secure data transfer. FDX tags operate at a low frequency of 134.2 kHz, which improves readability and penetration in crowded areas like animal herds. Access control, asset tracking, and other uses for FDX tags include the identifying and tracking of animals.


HDX Technology: HDX technology only supports half-duplex communication, which means that only one direction of communication is possible at once. This necessitates a two-way conversation between the reader and the tag, which can result in a slower and less dependable data transfer than FDX. The higher frequency used by HDX tags, 13.56 MHz, results in shorter read ranges but faster data transfer rates. For animal identification and management tasks that call for more specific information, like breeding, health monitoring, and feeding plans, HDX tags are frequently utilized.


Overall, FDX and HDX technologies are utilized for various purposes depending on the needs of those applications, each with their own advantages and limitations.
